2024 - what a year! We spent it serving up world-class wines to our lovely customers, but some wines simply stood up above the rest and you lot guzzled them down!

#1 Vigneti del Salento Zolla Primitivo di Manduria
Coming in at number one is a wonderfully rich and delicious Primitivo. Vigneti del Salento is part of the Fantini group who have established a reputation for producing top-quality wines across Abruzzo and the whole of Southern Italy. Vigneti del Salento truly does represent some of the best of Puglia. Old bush vines from classic Puglian grape varieties are harvested from the esteemed areas of both Manduria and Save.

#2 Cantina Diomede Canace Nero di Troia
Puglia have gone and claimed the number 2 spot as well! This super thick and chocolatey concoction comes from the talented people at Cantina Diomede.
The grapes were left to partially dry on the vines. Upon arrival at the winery, they underwent a maceration on the skins lasting 15 to 20 days followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures using selected yeasts.
This wine is deep red in colour with hints of violet. The complex bouquet offers warm spice, cocoa, coffee, liquorice, kirsch, ripe berry fruit and dark chocolate. Soft and velvety on the palate, this full-bodied Canace displays a fresh acidity balanced with elegant tannins and lingering spice characters. Buy Now
#3 Allegrini Valpolicella
An expertly crafted Valpolicella from Allegrini is coming in at number 3. A top choice for someone who loves Pinot Noir, but wants to branch out.
This wine is ruby red in colour, with youthful highlights. Fragrant fruit with prominent notes of dark cherries are echoed by fresher hints of pepper and aromatic herbs, typical of Corvina and its genetic cousin Corvinone, the historic varieties of this appellation.

#4 Dandelion Vineyards Lion's Tooth
Fourth on our list is the award-winning Dandelion Vineyards, who are true artisans. A producer of truly special wines and forward-thinking in their approach to sustainability. Founder and winemaker Elena Brooks worked in vineyards across the world, before settling in Australia's McLaren Vale with her husband, (and now children). A true innovative vigneron.
Dandelion Vineyards Lion's Tooth of the McLaren Vale is a 95% Shiraz and 5% Riesling blend. A marriage of red fruits and rose petals from the aromatic Eden Valley Riesling. On the palate, it is pure wild cherries, blueberries and oaked spice. The tannins are pronounced but velvety with a soft finish thanks from the Riesling. The wine remained in a mix of old and new oak barrels for 18 months before being racked and bottled without filtration or fining. Buy Now
#5 Kaiken Ultra Malbec
Rounding out our top 5 red wines of 2024 is a classic Argentinian Malbec from Kaiken. Kaiken Winery comes from legendary Chilean winemaker Aurelio Montes. After much exploration, he settled on the now site of the Kaiken Winery as the place for his vivifying vino-based journey into the world of Argentinian wine. He clearly new what he was up to as Kaiken was named ‘New World Producer of the Year’ by the Sommelier Wine Awards in 2024.
Kaiken Ultra Malbec is deep ruby red in colour, with purple tones and a wonderful display of rich aromas. The nose is enticing and spicy with black fruit and floral notes. Structured with soft tannins that lead to a finish that is fresh, complex and long, with fruit notes and subtle undertones of rosemary, thyme and dried flowers. This is your Malbec on steroids!!
