Who/What/How:
- Familia Millán bought their first winery in 2002, but the building itself had stood since 1922. It had also sat abandoned for the past 35 years. José Jesús Millán and his family committed to restore and upgrade it to a “state of the art winery”. In 2008 the government gave the refurbished Toneles Winery “Heritage of Mendoza” status. The main concept of the Familia Millán winery is to create Premium Blends from either different varietals, or single varietals from different estates.
Taste:
- The fermentation takes place in French oak barrels and concrete tanks, at low temperatures, with indigenous yeasts, therefore achieving a great expression and complexity of aromas. It is aged in French and American oak barrels for 6 to 8 months and the best barrels selected to make the final blend. Look for notes of mint and damson, as well as red and black fruit.
