Who/What/How:

  • De Loach was initially established by Cecil De Loach, (a firefighter from San Francisco), in 1973, before being acquired by renowned Burgundian Jean-Claude Boisset in 2003. This purchase was made after Boisset’s son saw similarities in the terroir of the Russian River Valley in California and his homeland of Burgundy. Shortly after the purchase, the vineyard was converted to biodynamic farming and it is now one of California’s most recognisable brands.

Taste:

  • This is typical of the settle of California. De Loach Heritage Collection Zinfandel Intense and concentrated red fruit, almost jammy. Subtle hints of vanilla, toast and spice from the oak integration. Incredibly drinkable wine.
