Brand: De Loach

Grapes: Pinot Noir

Vintage: 2022

ABV: 13.5%

Who/What/How:

  • De Loach was initially established by Cecil De Loach, (a firefighter from San Francisco), in 1973, before being acquired by renowned Burgundian Jean-Claude Boisset in 2003. This purchase was made after Boisset’s son saw similarities in the terroir of the Russian River Valley in California and his homeland of Burgundy. Shortly after the purchase, the vineyard was converted to biodynamic farming and it is now one of California’s most recognisable brands.

Taste:

  • In keeping with the estate’s Burgundian heritage, the Russian River Pinot Noir is vinified in open-top wood fermenters and then aged in French oak for 12 months (mostly second, third and fourth use). The wine is multi-layered with fine tannins, bright acidity and enticing notes of fresh red fruits.
