The Sauce Subscription - July '25

A few months ago, we shone a light on wines from the old world. This time, we're moving onto something new. Namely, new world wines.

In the July edition of the Whole Bunch Wines Sauce Subscription, we are taking a tour of all things New World wines. We are spanning countries and continents to bring you twelve top-tier wines.

Many of these wines aren't regulars on our shelves, so if you'd like to see some of these in the future, please let us know!

Red Wine

Trinity Hills Hawke's Bay Pinot Noir [£31]

Trinity Hill Hawke's Bay Pinot Noir is still wonderfully acidic, with limited yet velvety tannins. It is also still bursting with red fruit flavours. However, the high percentage of gravel soil has really aided ripening which provides the wine with strong black fruit and spiced flavours.

S.C Pannell Basso McLaren Vale Garnacha [£31]

A hand-picked Garnacha, from our of the brightest young talents in the world of Aussie wine. Rich raspberry liqueur mixes with dark spice and cinnamon. Wow, just wow!

Ken Forrester Petit Pinotage [£18]

Ken Forrester Vineyards are an icon of the South African wine industry that have been going since 1689. The Petit range emphasises the fresh and fruity. To further accentuate the vibrant fruit flavours, it remains unoaked. Although, you'll still get hints of smoke and spice integrated into this wine.

Montes Outer Limits by Montes Old Roots Cinsault [£31]

Cinsault is frequently used in Southern French rosé due to the grape being acidic and full of fresh red fruit flavours. This lends itself to fresh and fruity single varietal wines, such as this one by the iconic Chilean producer Montes.

Plantagenet Three Lions Pinot Noir [£28]

The Plantagenet winery owns 126 hectares of vineyards in the Great Southern wine region. Their Pinot Noir delivers an abundance of bramble fruits with a touch of toasty oak to give a bit more body, complexity and texture.

Bogle Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel [£30]

An icon in the world of American wine. Bogle has established a reputation for expertly crafted and reasonably priced wines, particularly when compared to the rest of California. This old vine Zinfandel is rich, ripe and will certainly keep you coming back for more.

White Wine

Lani Gewurztraminer [£29]

10-15 year old vines are destemmed in a cold press for 6 hours to add texture and complexity. Look for aromatic notes of Turkish Delight and ginger to melt into ripe fruit flavours of lychee, mandarin and mango.

Bodega Garzón Rosé de Corte [£24.50]

It ain't white wine, but it's crisp and spot on so we threw it in. An absolute stonker from Bodega Garzón. 100% Pinot Noir, it is fresh and vibrant fruit flavours shine, but there’s also just a touch of texture on the palate.

Framingham Pinot Gris [£27.50]

A variety of careful and measured wine-making techniques are employed with this wine. All these techniques seek to balance the fresh and fruity, with the rich and unctuous to create a top-tier wine. You'll get ripe notes of red apple, nectarine, flint, ginger and golden pears.

Kanaan Winery Ningxia Riesling [£40]

Kanaan Winery Riesling is a wonderfully refreshing example of this much-loved grape variety. It delivers a full-bodied punch that provides you with notes of juicy citrus fruits, white flowers, green tea and a hint of petrol, (as good Riesling tends to do).

Pacheco Pereda Estirpe Chardonnay [£23]

Whole Bunch Wines loves Chardonnay, but Burgundy is played out, so we're off to Mendoza. Fresh and fruity, but around 15% of the wine does go through oak ageing, in a combination of 500 litre French oak and 3500 litre foudres for four months which adds a lovely, rich texture to this really exciting and vibrant wine.

Amalaya White Blend [£20]

Grown at altitude, this wine maintains a palpable freshness and crisp acidity. Fermentation is carried out slowly and at low temperatures, with selected yeasts, to preserve the varietal notes of the Torrontés and Riesling grapes. Fresh and pure fun.
